The original ZX Printer was not imported to the US due to a variety of reasons including the high radio-frequency interference that the ZX Printer was alluded to emit, rather Timex distributed a rebranded version of the Alphacom 32. The Timex Sinclair 2040 can be used with any Timex or Sinclair computer.

A self-test mode is built-in to aid troubleshooting. This mode is accessed by pressing the [OFF] button once while holding down the [ON/ADVANCE]. The Timex Sinclair 2040 will repeatedly print a line of 8’s and a line of 1’s.
Also known in Portugal as the Timex Printer 2040 to match the Timex Computer range of computers.
