Like the Timex Sinclair 2086 and many other home computers and game consoles of its time, this enabled the Timex Sinclair 1500 (and T/S 1000 with 16 Kb memory expansion) to receive cartridge games. It also had a reset switch.
Not a commercial success (only 4 cartridges were released) and therefore not commonly found.
On the Timex Sinclair 1000, one had to enter ‘RAND USR 8192’ to boot the cartridge, while on the T/S 1500 it would boot automatically.
