Sinclair used half defect RAM chips for its 32 Kb memory expansion. But non defect chips will fit too and with some clever bank switching, both 32 Kb banks can be selected. Using the OUT command, Bank 1 or Bank 2 can be chosen. A LED will illuminate when the second bank is selected. Unfortunately no commercial software made use of this scheme.
East London Robotics also sold the SP48, which was a regular 32 Kb memory upgrade.
