The last of the Sinclair-designed computers, nicknamed the “Toastrack” because of its large exposed black heat sink. With only 30.000 made before Amstrad would relaunch it as the ZX Spectrum +2, it is high on the wanted list of many Spectrum fans.

At the end of the ROM the following string can be found: “MB SB AC RG KM”. These are the initials of the programmers Martin Brennan, Steve Berry, Andrew Cummins, Rupert Goodwins and Kevin Males.
Brennan and Males wrote the original Spanish ROM, Berry and Cummins reworked it for the UK machine. Goodwins’ contribution was the menu system and four colour swish in the top menu bar.

The connector for the RS232/MIDI and for the Keypad is a BT 631W.
