Claimed to be the world’s smallest radio, according to the blurb. Also available as a kit.
Sold until mid 1971, albeit with different internal components over its lifespan.
This radio circuit utilized 4 semi-conductors (2 NPN transistors type ME4102 and 2 diodes) and 11 passive components (3 resistors, 5 capacitors and 3 coils).
It is powered by two type “675” (blue) zinc-air button cell batteries of 1.4 Volts, 650 mAh. The polarity is arbitrary.
This radio still works, as can be heard here.
The Sinclair Micromatic was licensed as the Layton Bros. MINI HI-FI, Clairtone MINI HI-FI and Printronic IC-2000.
